Q: What is the difference between the commercial version and the freeware version?
A: When you buy the commercial version, you get an executable file with a unique
binary “fingerprint”, that means, contents of the file is completely different from
the freeware version or from any other commercial version of KeySnitch ever sold.
This makes it next to impossible for the anti-virus or anti-spyware software to
detect this program. Also, the log header is not present in the commercial version,
making it difficult to recognize the log file programmatically.
Q: How do I uninstall this program?
A: Due to the nature of this software, uninstall procedure involves more steps compared
to a usual program. This program tries to make the integration into the operating
system as low as possible to make itself hard to detect by other software, therefore,
there is no entry in the Add/Remove Programs list. You have to shut down the program
in the Task Manager (pressing ctrl+alt+del) and then manually delete the files from
the folder into which you installed this program. Things get complicated when you,
as the user, somehow discover this program running on your computer and you do not
know where it was installed. When you identify the name of the executable, you have
to search (clicking on the Start button and then Search, Files or Folders…) through
all your drives to locate the file and then delete it.
Q: When installing the program reports "Unable to open a file for reading" and I have the
AVG antivirus installed.
A: In this case, it is possible to install KeySnitch in the safe mode. See this link.
Q: Is this program safe to use?
A: Yes. This program contains absolutely no spyware, ad-ware, viruses nor any other
malicious software. It does not send the collected data anywhere except the FTP
or email you specify.
Q: The log file is not created. Why?
A: Make sure you have write privileges in the folder which you chose as the destination
for the log file.
Q: I see this in the log file. What does it mean ? “connect() failed, code: 10060“
A: Make sure the server works correctly, because the code 10060 means that the connection
timed out. For other codes, see
this link.
Q: I would like to see (place your favorite keylogger feature here) in KeySnitch.
Will you implement it in the next release?
The more emails requesting this feature I see (from different people :) ), the more
likely it is that I will make it.
